One of the most important components of middle school social studies curriculum is geography. Recent studies by organizations like the National Geographic Society have found that we need to do a better job teaching our kids about the world in which they live. The Napa Valley Unified School District has also recognized this need and is now requiring all high school freshmen to take a semester of Geography.
Our 7th grade social studies course begins the year with this topic and throughout the year, as we investigate different civilizations and cultures, we use geographic themes and skills to gain a better understanding of our past.
Below is a list of pages on this site which support our study of Geography.
